Welcome to my blog. My name is Timothy Smith and I am a retired pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church. I was not always a pastor in the Covenant Church. Up until July, 2011 I was a pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). I left along with the Church I was then serving as Lead Pastor over issues related to the authority of Scripture.
After serving as a pastor, I spent a year substitute teaching in the Las Cruces Public School District in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I experienced teaching elementary school, middle school, and high school, and discovered much about how education works and does not work in my community.
In the spring of 2016 I began working for a Medicare Contractor (General Dynamics’ Information Technology Division) applying the Medicare Secondary Payer Law of 1980 and the Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. I work as a Customer Service Representative at the Medicare Benefits Coordination and Recovery Center. Each work day I take dozens of calls to help people solve their Medicare problems, coordinate benefits, and protect the Medicare Trust Fund. Each day I also learn more about how Medicare works, or doesn’t.
With this blog I hope to share what God is doing in my life, what I am learning, and what God is putting on my heart to do and to share with others. I pray that you might find something useful here for your own journey. May God bless you.
